Through the 865 Academies and Career and Technical Education programs, are helping end veteran homelessness through Operation Hero’s Hill while gaining real-world skills. A group of Powell High students are taking it a step further in an after-school externship with skilled-trade mentors.

Nearly 200 teachers and principals from across Knox County Schools were honored Tuesday evening at the annual KCS Teacher of the Year banquet, held at the Knoxville Convention Center.

On weekday mornings at New Hopewell Elementary, the day starts with movement. Before classes begin, students head to the track for the school’s Jogging Club—a simple but impactful program helping students build healthy habits while strengthening school community!

Across Knox County Schools, a new approach to flexible staffing is giving principals the freedom to rethink roles, resources, and how best to support students. At Christenberry Elementary, that flexibility is strengthening instructional leadership and expanding teacher impact in meaningful ways
